What we do

What we do

All activities will serve the goal of helping countries with developing HTA systems to develop and implement HTA structures that are country-specific but use internationally proven methods based on evidence from developed countries. In general, three pillars will form the foundation of all activities the institution will focus on to achieve the lofty goal.

The three pillars

Developing and monitoring an efficient HTA system

Developing and monitoring an efficient HTA system

We create tailor-made plans based on country-specific needs and ambitions, resulting in a realistic, pragmatic multi-year roadmap, implemented and guided in a collaborative effort. Using best practices from modern HTA departments, our institute drives the development of HTA structures that can assist Ministries of Health in modern decision making. We provide:

  • Country-specific implementation plans based on established worldwide practice, including an implementation manager to achieve goals.
  • A year-round monitoring system to track development, anticipate challenges in the tailor-made plans, and adjust accordingly and timely. The Institute will provide project management, guidance throughout the process, and yearly recommendations.
  • Recommendations on financing healthcare systems, and the role of HTA. Separately, financial plans for the development of HTA departments will be developed, including potential savings if standardized assessments of healthcare technologies are implemented correctly in a partnered country.
  • Stimulation of the collaboration between HTA agencies, their Ministry of Health, and like-minded countries/HTA-agencies.
Mastering necessary skills

Mastering necessary skills

A country-specific educational program will be established to help personnel and experts of various seniority levels to masters necessary skills in:

  • Evidence-based reviews
  • Systematic literature reviews
  • Adaptions of international evidence to country-specifics
  • Health economic evaluation
  • Creating clinical guidelines
  • Assessing clinical studies and literature
Knowledge exchange

Knowledge exchange

We aim to have a focused offline and online community, to learn from best practices, and accelerate progress.

Online: A dedicated, encrypted platform will be designed for partners of the platform to track progress, engage in discussions through forums, and stimulate the exchange of knowledge by having access to (general) documents.

Offline: We envision the exchange of personnel amongst HTA platforms, based on a specific plan of action that is tailor-made per HTA body. This exchange program will be complemented by a members-only annual meeting where all progress is presented, and pragmatic plans are presented for all partners.
